However, as of the update I experience frequent crashes. Anyone knows why or having the same problem?

Its no use if its not working with goty. I tried with revolt goty+gods version, installed 1.705 then 2.21 and 2.24 and its NOT working. Waiting for someone to tell me what torrent(s) are needed for those 2 patches.

Tried the uploader's setup, still doesn't work. Since this update, the game crashes whenever i try to start a new game (after the leader intro speech). tried numerous fixes to no avail :(

Apart from running as admin and/or changing the civ5 folder permission, I have no more possible solutions.

Try closing Steam and then launch the game. I had the same problem and that fixed it.

I cant seem to get it working. No admin problems had the game installed and working perfectly up to prior patches. Reinstalled and dl the suggested torrents. Still nothing. I click the game to start and it simply does not respond.

Got it to work...barely....
I used the Simon torrent in the links. What I got to is a loading screen of CiV vanilla and unsurprising missing all the DLCs (along with errors for missing textures), will retry with another version. In the interim any help/advice is appreciated.

Well its working now after a couple uninstalls and reinstalls. However all I can load is saves made on steam cloud. The rest simply freeze. Any ideas?

I can't seem to extract the steam_api.dll at all, the file just disappears right after it appears in windows explorer. I have tried turning off anti virus, as well as showing hidden files and folders, but the problem still persists. It is only the steam_api.dll file that i am unable to extract, the rest are fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?

This is your AV for sure, some of them may give a false positive that it's a virus and will delete it right away. Try creating an exception for steam_api.dlll in Civ5 folder even before extracting it.

-I used to have Civ5/G&K (I forgot which version, probably FLT's or Skidrow's).
-I applied the 1.674 patch
-I've been playing the game nicely without problems

Lately I downloaded the 3DM 1.705, and 1.221 and 1.224 (the ones here).

I have a fairly decent PC that can run games at high/very high settings. Drivers and DX are up to date.

One thing I noticed is that, in an older patch, the game looked clearer and smoother (aside from NOT crashing).
However, now, it looks a bit "blurry" or "hazy".

I have re-downloaded (using Revolt's version). I've re-patched.
I checked drivers/directX again.
I changed video settings.
I read the net for guides.

*** I will reinstall and apply older patches to see which of the 3DM patches (1.075/1.221 / 1.224) is causing this problem ***

That is because your maps should be in your
Documents/MyGames/SidMeier'sCiv5/MAPS folder

NOT the Mods folder

So about the previous comment. i have no problem with 1.0.2.21 but when i install 1.0.2.44 it gives me that chinese pop up. Its not the steam warning and i have tried running as admin

It should only happen if you have Steam running in the background. Try to remove the "remember me" or automatic login for Steam; then set it to Offline Mode; and finally close the program. Then run the game.

PS: You did not get the same problem as I did (with instant-freeze after the leader introduction?

I don't think the error im getting is the steam error because i have seen the steam error and it looks nothing like it (also does not have the word STEAM in the error message). But I did try what you said but I still cannot get past the first loading screen. I am enjoying the game at 1.0.2.21 for now though
